Director Of Retail Development Location: Remote (25% - 30% Travel Required)Our client is building a retail division designed to scale nationally and is seeking a strategic leader to develop the systems, processes, and playbook that will drive consistent growth across multiple showroom locations.The Director Of Retail Development will be responsible for designing and optimizing the entire retail buyer journey, from initial lead generation through showroom consultation, sale, and installation. This role will focus on building scalable retail sales systems that improve conversion rates, elevate the customer experience, and drive revenue growth.Working cross-functionally with leadership, marketing, operations, and learning & development, this individual will establish best practices for how retail locations attract, engage, and convert customers. The goal is to create a repeatable retail sales model that can be successfully implemented as the company expands into new markets.Key Responsibilities Retail Sales Systems & ProcessDesign and implement a standardized retail sales process from initial lead through installationDevelop scalable systems that support consistent sales performance across multiple retail locationsIdentify opportunities to improve sales efficiency, customer engagement, and revenue generationImplement CRM tools and lead management workflows that support retail sales teamsLead Management & ConversionEstablish lead response standards and follow-up protocols to improve responsiveness and conversionPartner with marketing to ensure leads are properly tracked, distributed, and nurturedMonitor and optimize lead-to-sale conversion across locationsIdentify gaps in the customer journey that may impact closing ratesShowroom ExperienceOptimize showroom layout, merchandising, and product presentation to enhance the customer buying experienceImprove the consultation framework used by showroom sales teamsDevelop best practices for how products, pricing, and upgrade options are presented to customersEnsure showrooms create a professional and consultative sales environmentKPIs & Performance MetricsDefine and track key retail performance metrics such as conversion rates, average order value, gross margins, and customer satisfactionDevelop reporting dashboards and performance benchmarks across locationsPartner with leadership to identify opportunities for performance improvement and growthInstallation & Customer ExperienceWork closely with operations teams to create a smooth and predictable installation experienceEnsure the transition from sale to installation is well-coordinated and customer-focusedIdentify process improvements that increase customer satisfaction and reduce frictionHiring & TrainingProvide guidance on retail hiring profiles, compensation structures, and sales rolesPartner with the learning and development team to build onboarding and training programs for retail sales staffHelp establish performance expectations and coaching frameworks for showroom teamsIdeal CandidateExperience driving sales growth within multi-location retail organizationsStrong understanding of CRM systems, lead management, and retail sales funnelsProven ability to improve showroom sales environments and customer experienceHighly systems-oriented with the ability to build scalable processes and playbooksComfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and executive leadershipExperience developing sales processes that support rapid retail expansion
