Job Description: Oracle to PostgreSQL Migration Architect We are looking for a highly skilled software engineering professional with strong expertise in Java and/or Go, excellent knowledge of Data Structures & Algorithms, System Design, and Cloud-native architecture (especially Kubernetes). The candidate must be able to understand existing system customizations and rebuild equivalent solutions in modern cloud environments.This role focuses on leading Oracle to PostgreSQL migration initiatives, including architecture design, schema conversion, performance optimization, and ensuring zero/low-downtime migrations.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine migration strategy and roadmap for Oracle to PostgreSQL conversion, including dependency analysis and TCO assessmentDesign and implement scalable PostgreSQL architectures (AWS RDS/Aurora or Azure PostgreSQL)Convert Oracle PL/SQL (procedures, triggers, packages, views) to PostgreSQL PL/pgSQLExecute data migration using AWS SCT, AWS DMS, Ora2Pg, or pgloaderOptimize query performance, indexing, and database tuning in PostgreSQLHandle complex migration issues including data type mismatches and replication challengesCollaborate with engineering teams to modernize legacy systems into cloud-native architectureRequired SkillsStrong experience in Java and/or Go LangExcellent knowledge of Data Structures, Algorithms, and System DesignStrong experience in Oracle (PL/SQL, performance tuning)Deep expertise in PostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL, internals, optimization)Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud platformsExperience with migration tools: AWS SCT, AWS DMS, Ora2Pg, pgloaderGood understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native systemsScripting experience in Python, Bash, or PerlRequired Experience10+ years of overall IT experienceMinimum 3+ years of hands-on Oracle to PostgreSQL migration experienceGood to HaveMicroservices architecture experienceCI/CD pipelines and DevOps exposureExperience in distributed systems and high-performance architecturesStrong communication and stakeholder management skills
