Edm operator/programmer

*Overview* Join our innovative manufacturing team as an EDM Operator/Programmer and become a vital contributor to precision metalworking excellence! In this dynamic role, you will operate and program Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment, including 5-axis CNC machines, to produce complex components with high accuracy. Your expertise in CAD/CAM software, blueprint reading, and mechanical measurement will drive quality and efficiency in our manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining technology in a fast-paced, collaborative environment dedicated to precision engineering. *Responsibilities* * Set up and operate EDM machinery, including CNC wire and sinker EDMs, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are maintained. * Develop and modify CNC programs using CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD to produce intricate parts according to detailed blueprints and schematics. * Interpret mechanical blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and schematics to ensure precise machining operations. * Perform tooling setup, calibration, and adjustments on CNC lathes, milling machines, and 5-axis CNC machines for complex metal components. * Conduct precision measurements using bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to verify part dimensions meet specifications. * Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize machining processes, reduce waste, and improve workflow efficiency. * Troubleshoot machining issues related to geometry, tooling wear, or machine calibration; perform routine maintenance on EDM equipment. * Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, inspection reports, and process improvements for quality control purposes. *Skills* * Proficiency in programming CNC machines using CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD; experience with CAM programming for metal machining is essential. * Strong knowledge of EDM techniques including electrical discharge machining processes—wire EDM and sinker EDM—and their applications in manufacturing. * Familiarity with Fanuc controls for CNC machinery operation and troubleshooting. * Ability to interpret blueprints with GD&T specifications accurately; experience reading schematics and technical drawings is critical. * Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining tools setup, tooling selection, geometry considerations, and precision measurement instruments like bore gauges and micrometers. * Experience working with 5-axis CNC milling machines or CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment focused on high precision. * Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity while maintaining quality standards. * Strong math skills related to measurement accuracy and geometric calculations necessary for precise machining tasks. * Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team while maintaining safety protocols at all times.
