Environment Health Safety Lead

This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced Environmental Health & Safety professional to build, scale, and lead comprehensive EHS programs within a dynamic industrial and technical environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a proactive safety culture, and partnering with leadership to align safety strategy with business objectives.You will serve as the primary voice for safety and environmental stewardship, overseeing programs across research, manufacturing, and chemical processing operations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProgram Leadership & StrategyLead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental Health & Safety programsEstablish short- and long-term EHS strategies aligned with organizational goalsPartner with executive leadership to drive safety performance, compliance, and operational excellenceAct as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholdersRegulatory Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Fire Code, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulationsMaintain permits and oversee environmental and regulatory compliance requirementsMonitor hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal processesConduct hazard assessments and implement corrective and preventive actionsSafety Programs & Culture DevelopmentManage and enhance safety programs including:Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)Injury & Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP)PPE and respiratory protectionErgonomics and heat stress preventionContractor and pedestrian safetyLead safety committees, safety walks, and engagement initiativesFoster a safety-first culture through proactive communication, training, and continuous improvementTraining, Reporting & Continuous ImprovementDeliver training programs on emergency response, hazardous materials, and safe work practicesMaintain accurate documentation, reporting systems, and compliance recordsAnalyze safety metrics, incident data, and near-miss reports to identify trendsConduct root cause investigations and implement corrective action plansOperational Support & Incident ManagementSupport onboarding and orientation safety trainingManage workers’ compensation cases, including investigation and return-to-work programsOversee incident investigations and ensure timely reporting and resolutionCoordinate with internal teams and external partners on safety initiativesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVES)10+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience with progressive responsibility7+ years of experience in a Process Safety Management (PSM) environmentBachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related fieldStrong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulatory frameworksProven track record of building and implementing EHS programs in industrial settingsExperience in chemical processing, oil & gas, manufacturing, or R&D environments preferredStrong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skillsDemonstrated ability to drive results through structured planning and executionPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVES)• Experience in chemical processing or high-hazard environments• CSP or CIH certification• Startup, greenfield, or rapidly scaling facility experience• Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)WHAT SETS THIS ROLE APART• Opportunity to build EH&S programs from the ground up• Join a mission-driven, high-growth organization• High-impact role with strong visibility and influence• Competitive compensation, bonus, and relocation supportCOMPENSATION & BENEFITSCompetitive salary range: $135,000– $170,000 (based on experience and qualifications)Medical, dental, and vision coveragePaid time off and sick leaveEquity and performance-based incentivesInclusive and collaborative work environmentRelocation Assistance AvailableWHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUTThis role offers the opportunity to build and scale safety programs in a complex, evolving environment where your leadership directly influences employee safety, operational performance, and long-term organizational success.
