Legal Services & Case Support Intern - Learning Position (Summer 2026)Building Hope in the City, IMAGO Immigration Legal ServicesThe Legal Services & Case Support Internship is a service-learning opportunity that provideshands-on experience working with underserved and underrepresented immigrant communities.Interns will work closely with staff at IMAGO Immigration Legal Services - a ministry of BuildingHope in the City (BHITC) to support client intake, case preparation, and administrative casemanagement processes with the Legal team.This role offers meaningful exposure to immigration services in a nonprofit setting whilecontributing directly to client support and organizational operations.Internship Position DetailsNumber of Positions: 1Type of Position: Unpaid Internship PositionDates: June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026Work Location: In-person only, at The Hope Center, 15135 Triskett Rd, Cleveland, OH 4411144111; no hybrid/virtual workDays/Time: June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026, Monday through Friday (Preferably Mondays), mornings, and/or weekday early afternoonsTime Commitment: The total number of hours per week and exact schedule are to be mutually agreed upon. A minimum of 4 days/week, 6 hours per day, 24 hours per weekNo prior experience in the legal field requiredSupervised by a DOJ Accredited RepresentativeResponsibilitiesAssist DOJ Accredited Representatives and the Managing Director's caseloads, including contacting clientsScheduling appointments for prospective and current clientsCopy, scan, and receipt client documents needed for intake, research, and filingsAssist with calendars, waitlists, Google Drive, and related activitiesAssist in closing client cases by preparing and storing filesAssist with the development of practice processes to ensure IMAGO operates efficientlyAssist with conducting legal research regarding immigration laws, regulations, and proceduresOther tasks as defined by the DOJ Accredited Representatives and Managing DirectorKey SkillsAbility to relate positively and effectively with IMAGO staff and volunteersComfortable in cross-cultural and multi-cultural environmentsAbility to prioritize needsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-based environmentDependable and punctualQualificationsCurrently enrolled in an undergraduate programBackground in Social Work, Law, Humanities, Public Policy, or related field encouragedInternational students and bilingual students are strongly encouraged to applyDemonstrated interest in serving immigrant and underserved communitiesReliable transportationNOTE: Interns are required to complete prerequisites that include onboarding/orientation training, videos, surveys, and are subject to necessary background checks.Skills & Experience GainedParticipants will gain:Hands-on training in case handling and case managementFirst-hand experience working within a nonprofit organization settingCoaching and training in trauma-informed interviewing techniques, structured questioning, and case management systemsThe opportunity to contribute to improving and streamlining processes while making a meaningful impact on the organizationExperience working with underserved, diverse, and multilingual populationsProfessional development in documentation, organization, and legal processesThis internship offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to client outcomes while developing practical skills in legal services and community-based work.About Building Hope in the City
