This position will be based in our Traffic/ITS Department at either our Hillsborough or Raleigh office. The role primarily involves working on NCDOT roadway/highway projects, as well as municipal streets, pedestrian facilities, and broadband fiber design projects in Virginia .Responsibilities:Lead and assist in the development of traffic signal designs, ITS, and broadband fiber designsWork on NCDOT roadway/highway projects, as well as municipal streets and pedestrian facilitiesThorough knowledge of NCDOT traffic signal design standards and MUTCD protocolsPerform field investigations, construction inspections, and traffic signal equipment inventoriesCollaborate with clients and public agencies; occasionally participate in public meetings and presentationsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or Civil Engineering Technology (BSCET) or similar degreeMinimum of five (5) years of progressive design experience in transportation designFamiliarity with Microstation, Open Roads, Geopack, and Corridor ModelingProfessional Engineer (PE) license required in NC or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire; registration in other states is favorableNCDOT & VDOT design experience preferredStrong knowledge of traffic engineering disciplines such as TIA/capacity analysis, signal system timing plans, pavement marking, and signingExcellent communication skills, proactive attitude, and ability to manage multiple tasksExperience in client development and project managementExperience in general project development workflowStrong engineering analysis and judgmentAbility to adhere to project budgets and schedulesValid driver's license and ability to driveSummit Design and Engineering is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
