Position OverviewWe are seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA) to support commissioning of HVAC and mechanical systems across a variety of project types including healthcare, K-12 and higher education, data centers, and industrial facilities.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, field work, and working closely with project teams to deliver high-performing buildings.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform commissioning of HVAC and mechanical systems from design through occupancyConduct design and submittal reviews for mechanical systemsDevelop and execute functional performance tests (FPTs)Review sequences of operation for clarity and functionalityWrite and execute functional performance tests.Troubleshoot system performance issues in the fieldDocument findings in commissioning reports and issue logsCoordinate with owners, design teams, contractors, and vendorsSupport development of commissioning plans and specificationsQualifications5+ years of experience in mechanical systems (commissioning, TAB, controls, design, or construction)Strong understanding of HVAC systems (chilled water, hot water, air systems, controls)Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and sequences of operationField experience with system startup, troubleshooting, or testingStrong communication and teamwork skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamPreferred:Commissioning experience (CxA or similar role)CCP, CxA, or similar certification (or working toward)Experience with mission critical or healthcare systems and educational buildingsFamiliarity with tools such as CxAlloy, Procore, or BIM 360What We OfferCompetitive salary and performance-based bonusesEmployee ownershipComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, Simple IRA w/KBA match)Opportunities for professional development and certification supportA collaborative, team-oriented work environmentWhy KBAAt KBA, commissioning is more than a checklist—it’s about building trust, improving outcomes, and helping project teams succeed.
