CT TECHNOLOGIST RT(R)

OverviewRiverside Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate CT Technologist to join our Imaging Services team in Kankakee, Illinois. The CT Technologist will be responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography (CT) scans to assist in diagnosing and treating patients. This position requires a strong understanding of imaging techniques, patient care, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care while adhering to all regulatory and safety standards. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.Essential DutiesPerform CT Imaging:Perform CT scans in accordance with established protocols and physician orders, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.Position patients and equipment appropriately for procedures to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest.Select and operate computed tomography equipment, applying principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.Monitor the status of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and functioning.Conduct daily quality control (QC) checks on equipment and imaging systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Patient CarePrepare patients for imaging procedures and provide practical instructions to alleviate anxiety and ensure understanding.Assume responsibility for the physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures, providing education and counseling as necessary.Monitor patients during the scan, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the procedure.Perform venipuncture to administer contrast agents or other injectable substances required for radiology procedures, ensuring accurate dosage and patient safety according to established protocols.Perform point-of-care testing (POCT). Radiation SafetyAdhere to safety protocols and radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to patients, staff and othersPrepare, identify, and/or administer contrast media and/or medications as prescribed, understanding methods of performing venipunctures.Collaboration And EducationWork closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate interpretation of images.Provide practical instructions and participate in teaching programs for students and healthcare professionals.Documentation And Quality ControlEnsure accurate and complete documentation of all imaging procedures, including corroborating the patient's clinical history with the procedure.Evaluate images for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and provide hard copy records of procedures.Maintain archival storage of digitized information as appropriate.Inventory ManagementControl inventory levels, recommend procurement of supplies, and suggest modifications necessary for practical and economical operation.On-Call Availability:Be available for on-call duties as required, providing imaging services promptly when needed.Non-essential DutiesParticipate in departmental meetings and continuing education opportunities to stay current with advancements in imaging technology and practices.Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as scheduling and inventory management.Contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.ResponsibilitiesPreferred ExperienceParticipate in departmental meetings and continuing education opportunities to stay current with advancements in imaging technology and practices.Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as scheduling and inventory management.Contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.Required Licensure/EducationAssociate's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field requiredCurrent registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT (R) in Radiography.IEMA certification required in Radiography Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationPreferred EducationAdvanced certification in CT by the ARRT [RT(CT)] This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
