Company Description The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network (GMHCN) is a non-profit organization established in 1991 by individuals with lived experience of mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases. With over 3,000 members across Georgia, GMHCN is governed by a board of consumers and funded through grants, contracts, donations, and membership fees. The organization is widely recognized for hosting one of the country's largest statewide annual consumer conferences. GMHCN’s mission is to promote recovery through advocacy, education, empowerment, peer support, employment, and self-help while uniting consumer voices to address collective priorities. Role Description This part-time, on-site role in Decatur, GA is for a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS). The CPS will provide peer support services to individuals in recovery by sharing lived experiences, fostering hope, and building supportive relationships. Responsibilities include facilitating support groups, educating peers about recovery resources, advocating for individuals' needs, and collaborating with mental health professionals to promote recovery-oriented outcomes. The CPS will also assist with documentation and report progress as required. Qualifications Certification as a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) recognized in the state of GeorgiaStrong interpersonal and communication skills to provide peer support and foster relationshipsExperience in facilitating recovery support groups and promoting empowermentKnowledge of community resources, self-help strategies, and recovery principlesProficiency in professional documentation and record-keepingAbility to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and advocate for peer needsComfort working in an in-person capacity within a supportive and community-driven environmentLived experience in mental health recovery and a commitment to inspiring hope and recoveryHigh school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in peer-related fields is a plus
