Lead Business Analyst

Job Summary: The Lead Business Analyst role is a senior position focused on leading and improving the Business Analysis function. The role involves establishing standards, mentoring other Business Analysts, ensuring high-quality requirements, and facilitating effective communication between business and technical teams.Location:Richmond, Virginia, United StatesResponsibilities:- Establish and maintain standardized BA practices, templates, and documentation.- Ensure high-quality requirements artifacts (BRDs, RTMs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows).- Review and validate requirements to ensure business and technical needs are met.- Provide feedback on BA deliverables to improve quality and reduce rework.- Ensure timely delivery of BA artifacts to support project milestones.- Promote testing approaches covering functional, non-functional, and data requirements.- Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams.- Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, and cross-functional discussions.- Support change management through clear and consistent communication.- Partner with project managers, product owners, and leadership to prioritize work and mitigate risks.- Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable documentation.- Present findings, recommendations, and updates to leadership.- Tailor communication for executives, technical teams, and end users.- Mentor and coach Business Analysts to support skill development and performance.- Identify and implement improvements to BA practices and processes.- Remove obstacles and proactively address risks impacting team effectiveness.- Lead by example with accountability, professionalism, and quality focus.Required Skills & Certifications:- Bachelor's degree in business, Information Technology, or a related field.- 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.- 3+ years of experience mentoring or leading Business Analysts.- Strong experience with requirements elicitation, documentation, and process modelling.- Proven experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum and/or Kanban).- Proficiency with BA and ALM tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar).- Excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills.Preferred Skills & Certifications:- Experience defining BA standards or supporting BA Centers of Excellence.- Experience with data governance, data integration, or data quality initiatives.- Familiarity with testing methodologies and ALM or automated testing tools.Special Considerations:- In-person interview required.Scheduling:
