Manager, Flight Data Analysis

Description: ForeFlight is seeking a dynamic and experienced Flight Data Analysis (FDA) expert to lead the product and business development of our FDA offerings. This role is ideal for a passionate aviation professional with a proven track record in bringing SMS/FOQA/FDM products to market. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in team leadership, rapid software development, and a commitment to enhancing aviation through cutting-edge technology. A commercial rating is required, with preference given to those with experience in Part 135 or Part 121 operations. Ideally, this position is based in our Austin, TX office with relocation assistance provided. However, if relocation is not an option for you, working from one of our other offices (Houston or Portland, ME) or fully remote from select states is an option. Key Responsibilities: Lead the product business development for our Flight Data Analysis solutions Drive the successful market introduction of SMS/FOQA/FDM products Collaborate with various teams including engineering and product management, to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software products Leverage aviation expertise and technological innovation to improve flight safety Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years experience in the aviation industry Commercial Pilot Certificate; Airline Transport Pilot Certificate is preferred In-depth knowledge of Safety Management Systems, risk management, and safety reporting Thrive in ambiguous situations and excel at finding the best path forward Action-oriented with a strong focus on achieving results Embrace complexity and enjoy deep dives into challenging problems Communicate effectively and with empathy across various roles Passionate about mentoring others through unfamiliar domains Bonus Experience: Degree in Aviation, Aviation Safety or Data Science, Data Analytics, STEM with applied Aviation experience Experience in software product development Understanding of aircraft systems and operation regarding part 121 and/or part 135 operations preferred Familiarity with machine learning modeling, artificial intelligence, and statistical methods for analysis of operational or flight data About ForeFlight: ForeFlight produces the best-selling iPad and iPhone app for pilots flying personal and business aircraft, corporate flight departments, and aircraft operators.
