Mechanical Designer – New Product DevelopmentLocation: Greater Minneapolis (Hybrid)Overview:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer – New Product Development to support the design and development of innovative products from concept through production. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical design expertise who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about creating high-quality, manufacturable solutions.You will play a key role in translating engineering and marketing concepts into detailed 3D models, production drawings, and product configurations while ensuring designs meet standards for performance, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop engineering documentation including 3D models, fabrication drawings, and purchase drawings using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks)Translate product requirements into detailed designs, layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)Create and maintain product configurators and structured BOM systemsCollaborate with engineering teams (Product, VAVE, and Production) to support new designs and product modificationsProvide accurate project estimates and manage workload effectivelyApply strong mechanical aptitude and creative problem-solving to design challengesSupport continuous improvement in design and manufacturing processesParticipate in cross-functional team initiatives and projectsRequired QualificationsAssociate degree or equivalent in Design, Drafting, or a related field3+ years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environmentProficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD softwareStrong experience with BOM management and product configuration systemsKnowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability principlesAdvanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data managementStrong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skillsQualifications That Are a PlusExperience in sheet metal designExperience working with copper tubingBackground in HVAC or related product designExposure to coding or automation tools
