Details Multi-specialty Subintensive Medical Unit (MSU) with a primary focus on medical/surgical and telemetry care, located within a hospital setting Medical patient population includes dialysis, telemetry monitoring, and other acute medical needs; surgical patients include orthopedic (fractures, shoulders, backs) and general surgery (appendectomy, hernia repair, cholecystectomy, colon resection) Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, supported by a Team Leader who is out of staffing Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Every other weekend required Holiday coverage required as assigned Floating to other units and hospitals is required EMR: Meditech (experience not required) 36-hour work week 13-week contract Requirements Active AL state or compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted No hits (past or current) on nursing license permitted Current AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of RN experience; candidates with 18 months may be considered if all experience was under the highest level of professional license At least 1 year of recent experience in med/surg or telemetry specialty required Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required at minimum Valid driver's license required for consideration NURSYS verification required Additional Information Strong emphasis on pain management, mobility, and prevention of complications as part of patient-centered care Unit accommodates up to 36 patients and operates as the only 24/7 acute care unit on campus Team culture is described as family-oriented with a focus on teamwork and nursing skill development A cardiac exam is administered following offer acceptance Virtual orientation will include competency-based modules; no pre-start HealthStream modules required Timekeeping system: Centricity Solid navy scrubs required Local candidates are welcome to apply — no radius restrictions apply Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration Current driver's license and Social Security information required for consideration American Traveler Job ID P-685591.
