Job Description Title: Bench Scientist - IILocation: Pearl River NY 10965Duration: 03/02/2026 to 12/18/2026Description:Summary:The main function of a Bench Scientist is to execute laboratory-based experiments that support scientific research, product development, and technical investigations.This role involves hands-on work with analytical and characterisation techniques, contributing directly to data generation, method optimisation, and problem-solving.Bench Scientists differ from lab assistants in that they are responsible for the execution and interpretation of scientific protocols, often working closely with research leads to inform decision-making. ROLE SUMMARYThis is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccine Research and Development Analytical Development Group.The individual will perform routine sample testing, assay verification and qualification studies in support of early vaccine development.Assays include standard analytical separations (HPLC, gel electrophoresis, etc.) and spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, fluorescence). Job Responsibilities:Conduct laboratory experiments using established scientific methods to support research and development objectives. Prepare and analyse samples using appropriate instrumentation and techniques.Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in compliance with GLP and internal standards. Collaborate with scientists and project teams to troubleshoot issues and interpret data.Under direct supervision, the individual will perform routine sample testing in support of vaccine development. This includes preparing samples, setting up and running the instruments, and analyzing data.Document experiments, analyze data, and provide reporting using an electronic laboratory notebook in accordance with Client/GCLP requirements.With guidance, the individual will execute assay routine analysis of vaccine candidates.With guidance, draft and revise laboratory methods and reports.Plan daily workflow to complete the tasks/experiments outlined by the supervisor.The individual is expected to contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities (such as buffer preparation, reagent formulations, maintenance of equipment, managing laboratory waste). Skills:Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation relevant to the scientific discipline.Ability to follow and adapt scientific protocols with attention to detail. Strong documentation and data interpretation skills.Effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. Education/Experience:Degree in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. 2-4 years experience required.BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline plus 2 or more years of related work experience, or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline.Technical proficiencies in liquid chromatography (HPLC/UPLC) and spectroscopy (UV/VIS, Fluorescence) are desired.Previous experience with characterization of biomolecules is a plus.Good interpersonal, verbal and written skills.Motivated, detail-oriented, with good laboratory skills.
