The Cost Estimator is responsible for managing assigned tasks and portions of projects, contributing to estimate development across all phases of design, and supporting cost control efforts throughout the project lifecycle.This position includes estimating execution, coordination with project stakeholders, and participation in quality assurance processes. The role also contributes to team collaboration, client interaction, and the continued development of estimating practices. This position reports to senior leadership within the cost management team.Key ResponsibilitiesCost Estimating and Project ExecutionDevelop cost estimates at all levels, including conceptual, schematic design, design development, and construction documentsPerform quantity take-offs, pricing, and cost analysis across major construction disciplinesSupport preparation of budgets, cost plans, and estimate reports for client deliverablesEnsure estimates reflect current market conditions, labor availability, productivity assumptions, and project-specific logisticsCoordinate with internal team members and disciplines to ensure completeness and consistency of scopeTechnical Review and CoordinationReview project drawings and specifications to ensure accurate interpretation of scope and system requirementsIdentify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and coordination issues across disciplinesSupport constructability reviews and provide input on sequencing and system integrationAssist in evaluating cost and schedule impacts associated with design changesCost Management and AnalysisSupport monitoring of project budgets and cost control efforts during design developmentAnalyze historical cost data and benchmarking information to validate estimate accuracyAssist in change order evaluations and cost impact assessmentsContribute to identification of value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategiesClient and Stakeholder CoordinationCommunicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to clarify scope and assumptionsParticipate in project meetings, estimate reviews, and coordination discussionsSupport client relationships through responsiveness and clear communicationQuality Assurance / Quality ControlParticipate in QA/QC processes, including peer reviews and estimate reconciliationEnsure deliverables meet company standards for accuracy, consistency, and documentationIncorporate review comments and feedback into estimate updatesMarket Awareness and Data ManagementMaintain awareness of construction market conditions, including labor and material pricing trendsSupport updates to internal cost databases and benchmarking toolsAssist in gathering pricing data from contractors, vendors, and industry sourcesTeam Collaboration and DevelopmentWork collaboratively with senior staff and project teams to deliver high-quality estimatesProvide guidance and support to junior estimators as neededContribute to process improvements and standardization effortsQualifications/RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field (or equivalent experience)3-6 years of experience in cost estimating and preconstruction servicesExperience working on projects ranging from $5 million to $100+ millionExperience supporting conceptual and early-stage estimating effortsDemonstrated ability to perform estimates with increasing independence and technical responsibilityScheduling experience preferred with knowledge or use of Primavera P6 or Microsoft ProjectAbility to read and interpret drawings and specifications across all disciplinesUnderstanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and installation practicesFamiliarity with cost modeling, benchmarking, and estimating methodologiesWorking knowledge of contract documents and project delivery methodsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating tools (e.g., Sage Timberline, MCASES MII, or similar platforms)Compensation Range$95,000-$120,000 annuallyWhat’s In It For YouCompany-paid life and disability insuranceOptional benefits like pet insurance, legal, and supplemental health plans401(k) with day-one eligibility.
