Supervisor
Supervisor 2nd ShiftS.I.C. Recycling is looking for an experienced, hands-on Supervisor to lead our 2nd shift production team in Riverton, IL. In this role, you'll oversee the Laborers and Operators on your shift, keep production moving safely and efficiently, and serve as the go-to person on the floor when questions or issues come up. When you join S.I.C., you're joining a company with nearly a century of stability behind it and a team that feels like family.What You'll DoDirectly supervise Laborers and Operators throughout the shift, assigning tasks and monitoring workflowOversee production activity to keep the shift running safely, efficiently, and on paceMonitor material flow and quality, and maintain accurate shift logs and production recordsTrain new employees and reinforce proper equipment operation and safety proceduresEnforce safety policies and address hazards or unsafe practices on the floorCommunicate shift updates, issues, and priorities to the Weekday ManagerStep in to operate equipment (forklift, shredder line, etc.) as needed to support the crewCoordinate loading/unloading and material handling activity across the shiftAddress day-to-day personnel issues and escalate as appropriateMaintain a clean, organized, and orderly production floorWhat We're Looking ForPrior experience supervising or leading a team in a production, manufacturing, or scrap/recycling environment preferredWorking knowledge of scrap metal processing equipment, including forklifts and shredder line operationsAbility to safely operate machines and equipment, and to train others to do the sameStrong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to hold a team accountableAbility to repeatedly lift at least 25 poundsAbility to keep pace in a fast-moving production environmentReliable, consistent attendance and punctualitySound judgment and problem-solving ability under time pressureA team-first attitude and willingness to lead by example on the floorWorking ConditionsWork is performed in an active scrap metal processing facility, both indoors and outdoors, and may involve exposure to seasonal heat, cold, and other outdoor elementsExposure to dust, metal debris, and odors typical of a scrap processing environmentNoise levels may reach or exceed 85 decibels; hearing protection is required for most of the shiftRequired PPE includes steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other task-specific safety gearWork is performed around heavy equipment, including forklifts and a shredder linePhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods throughout the shiftAbility to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds repeatedly, and heavier loads occasionally with assistanceAbility to climb on and off equipment such as forklifts safelyAbility to work at a fast pace to keep up with production and shredder line speedAbility to work overtime, including weekends or holidays, with advance notice as neededWork Schedule2nd Shift: 5:15 PM 3:30 AM, Monday through Thursday.
