uShip is seeking a highly motivated AWS Cloud Engineer / Architect to join our IT Services team. This role will focus on the design, implementation, security, and evolution of uShip’s cloud infrastructure, with AWS serving as the primary platform.The ideal candidate will help drive the architecture and automation of our cloud environment while supporting modern DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, and secure platform operations. This individual will work closely with engineering, security, and IT teams to ensure uShip’s systems are scalable, resilient, and secure.This role is best suited for someone passionate about cloud architecture, automation, and building reliable infrastructure platforms.ResponsibilitiesDesign, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure primarily within AWSArchitect and implement infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and automated deployment pipelinesDevelop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting secure software delivery using GitHub, GitHub Actions, and GitHub Advanced SecurityImplement and manage microservices and serverless architectures within AWSDesign and maintain cloud networking, security controls, and IAM architectures following AWS best practicesMonitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, availability, and cost efficiencyPartner with engineering teams to design and support reliable cloud-native applications and servicesImplement and maintain cloud security standards, monitoring, and incident response capabilitiesSupport hybrid infrastructure and integrate cloud services with existing systems where requiredDocument architecture, operational procedures, and security practices to support long-term platform reliabilityParticipate in on-call rotations to support cloud infrastructure operations. RequirementsAWS Certification at the Solutions Architect Associate or SysOps Administrator Associate level3+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating infrastructure within AWS production environments2+ years of experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)Experience designing and operating cloud-native architectures, including microservices and serverless platformsExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflowsStrong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security controls, and architecture best practicesExperience administering Linux-based systems in cloud environmentsFamiliarity with containerized workloads and orchestration platformsStrong troubleshooting skills across distributed cloud systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to cross-functional teamsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a small, high-impact team environment. Preferred QualificationsAWS Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional certificationExperience with Kubernetes, ECS, or container orchestration platformsExperience implementing observability platforms (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, etc.)Experience with multi-account AWS environments and governance frameworksExperience with Cloudflare networking, security, or edge servicesExperience with multi-cloud environments (Azure or GCP).
