Assist students on and off the bus according to their individual needs.2. Follow established safety guidelines and procedures, supervise students, as well as instruct them on safe entering and exiting the bus.3. Learn and adapt to each student's specific medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.4. Manage student behaviors according to CPI practices utilizing Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention as a last resort and reporting student discipline problems in a timely manner to transportation.5. Communicate with the Special Needs Route Coordinator regarding student specific needs and behaviors on the bus. Routes and Schedules6. Assist with completing and maintaining accurate, updated, and timely records and reports including daily attendance.Safety7. Operate equipment according to established safety procedures. Make sure that all safety equipment is used correctly to safely secure the student according to I.E.P. (i.e. seat belts, harnesses, and help students use safety devices when needed). 8. Assist with emergency procedures including evacuation of students as needed and if necessary administering first aid.Other9. Assist with keeping the bus clean.10. Attend monthly Safety Meetings.11. Other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Specialized and adaptive equipment used by students such as wheel chairsPosture: Frequent standing and sitting; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Frequent walking and reaching frequent climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing, wrist and shoulder flexion/extension, and reachingLifting: Frequent heavy lifting (30 pounds or over) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, assisting non-ambulatory students, lifting and moving adaptive equipment on a daily basisEnvironment: Frequent exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather; exposure to noise and vehicle fumes; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases); work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts; may work irregular or prolonged hoursMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
