The Lab Manager supports and coordinates daily laboratory operations at ILS Gummies to ensure accurate testing, GMP compliance, and timely quality support for manufacturing. This role works collaboratively with another Lab Manager and cross-functional teams and is hands-on and technical in nature. The position focuses on execution, documentation, and continuous improvement rather than direct people management. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Laboratory Operations Perform and coordinate routine laboratory testing for raw materials, in-process, and finished products. Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, and suitable for use. Review laboratory results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications. Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and GMP standards. Quality & Regulatory Compliance Ensure laboratory activities comply with GMP, FDA, and internal quality requirements. Support investigations related to deviations, OOS results, and non-conformances. Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of documentation and responses. Ensure Good Documentation Practices (GDP) are consistently followed. Documentation & Records Complete, review, and maintain laboratory records, testing logs, COAs, and SOPs. Assist in drafting, revising, and implementing laboratory procedures and work instructions. Ensure timely and accurate data entry into quality systems and tracking tools. Collaboration & Technical Support Partner closely with the other Lab Manager to align testing priorities and daily workload. Collaborate with Production, QA, and Operations to support manufacturing schedules. Provide technical guidance and training support to laboratory personnel as needed (non-supervisory). Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, testing methods, and compliance practices. Participate in root cause analysis and CAPA activities. Support method verification, validation efforts, and new product introductions. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience working in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment. Strong understanding of laboratory testing, quality systems, and documentation practices. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Experience in dietary supplement, food, or nutraceutical manufacturing. Familiarity with FDA regulations, including 21 CFR Part 111 or food GMPs. Experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections.
