Job Posting: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Location: Lloyd G. Blanchard Middle School District: Westford Public Schools Reports To: Building Principal About Lloyd G. Blanchard Middle School Lloyd G. Blanchard Middle School is a vibrant grades 6-8 community of approximately 550 students. Organized into two collaborative teams per grade level, Blanchard is committed to high academic expectations, inclusive practices, and a respectful school culture grounded in strong relationships. We serve a diverse group of learners and work closely with engaged families to support both academic excellence and social-emotional development. Position Overview We are seeking a student-centered, visible, energetic, and collaborative leader to join our administrative team. The Assistant Principal serves as a vital bridge between instruction, school culture, and operations. The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful and articulate spokesperson for our school, maintaining a visible presence and upholding the exceptionally positive culture that exists among our students, faculty, and parents. Primary ResponsibilitiesInstructional Leadership: Partner with the Principal and other administrators in the observation and evaluation of faculty using the MA DESE Educator Evaluator model; provide actionable, growth-oriented feedback to enhance classroom instruction.Student Culture & Social-Emotional Growth: Foster a safe, inclusive environment by managing student conduct with a focus on restorative practices and proactive social-emotional support.Team Collaboration: Facilitate grade-level team meetings to support Westford's "collective responsibility" model, ensuring student needs are met through data-informed interventions (MTSS).Special Education & 504 Coordination: Serve as an administrative representative in 504 meetings, ensuring compliance and the delivery of high-quality inclusive accommodations.Community Presence: Act as a visible leader within the school community, engaging with families and participating in school-wide events and PTO initiatives.School Operations: Assist in the management of daily operations, including master scheduling, safety protocols, and the coordination of state assessments (MCAS).The Ideal CandidatePossesses a deep passion for the unique developmental needs of early adolescents.Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the school thoughtfully to a highly engaged community.Thrives in a culture of reflection and continuous improvement; values teamwork and transparency.Holds high academic standards and possesses the experience to mentor educators across diverse disciplines.QualificationsLicensure: Valid Massachusetts DESE license as a Principal/Assistant Principal (5-8 or PreK-8).Education: Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience (middle school level preferred). Prior teacher-leadership or administrative experience is highly desirable.Technical Skills: Proficiency with student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool) and data-driven decision-making tools.Safety Care Certified, or willing to become certified
