Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced BESS Project Manager to lead the early-stage development and pre-construction planning of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. In this senior role, you'll integrate advanced engineering, financial, and regulatory strategies to optimize project feasibility, mitigate risks, and deliver successful outcomes from inception through construction handover.Responsibilities:Lead comprehensive pre-construction planning and optimization for utility-scale BESS projects, integrating engineering design, financial modeling, procurement strategy, and regulatory requirements.Manage cross-functional project development teams in a matrixed environment to ensure alignment and timely delivery of project milestones.Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across environmental, regulatory, land acquisition, interconnection, and permitting workstreams.Develop and optimize technical project scope to enhance both technical performance and financial viability.Support negotiations for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Generator Interconnection Agreements (GIAs), and other commercial contracts.Collaborate with engineering, estimating, and procurement teams to refine project designs and strengthen financial models using market data.Present financial models and project updates to executive leadership and secure budget approvals.Competitively source, negotiate, and execute contracts for geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services.Represent project interests with stakeholders, including suppliers, regulatory agencies, and local communities.Ensure smooth transition of projects to the construction team with a complete and executable plan.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with a strong preference for engineering, economics, or construction background.Technical knowledge of renewable energy projects, electricity markets, and battery storage systems is highly desirable.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Six Sigma experience are preferred.Advanced Excel skills with excellent financial modeling, analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.This is a high-impact role ideal for a strategic project leader passionate about advancing large-scale energy storage solutions in the renewable energy sector.
