Senior Estimator – Electrical Construction: (Houston AND Austin)We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Estimator to lead estimating efforts across a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, and design-build electrical projects. This role plays a critical part in driving profitable growth by delivering accurate, competitive, and strategic bids. You will partner closely with leadership, project teams, and clients to assess opportunities, manage risk, and support key business decisions. In addition to producing estimates, this position provides mentorship to junior estimators and helps elevate overall estimating capabilities. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership, and market awareness in a fast-paced construction environment.Responsibilities: Develop accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates for projects ranging from simple to complexReview RFQs, RFPs, and bid invitations to assess scope, risk, and feasibilityManage estimating schedules, workflows, and timelines to meet business objectivesCommunicate with clients to clarify scope, address gaps, and support relationship developmentReview and validate estimator takeoffs to ensure alignment with drawings and specificationsPrepare scope letters, bid packages, and supporting documentationLead internal estimate reviews and validation meetingsDevelop assumptions and strategies for conceptual and early-stage estimatingParticipate in project turnover and kickoff meetings when neededProvide cost breakdowns, analysis, and recommendations to support leadership decisionsAttend job walks and identify discrepancies in drawings, specifications, and requirementsMentor and train junior estimators to strengthen team performanceTrack bid outcomes, maintain logs, and follow up with clients on resultsMaintain strict confidentiality of pricing strategies and company dataRequirements: 5 to 10 years of experience in the electrical construction industryStrong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulationsProven experience producing accurate estimates, takeoffs, and proposals with minimal errorsProficiency with estimating software such as Accubid and LiveCountAbility to interpret cost data and utilize estimating systems effectivelyStrong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlinesExcellent communication skills with the ability to present estimates and negotiate effectivelyStrong time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environmentAwareness of market conditions including labor rates and material cost trendsExperience mentoring or leading estimators is preferredStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and qualityCollaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams, clients, and leadershipWillingness to travel for job walks and work extended hours when requiredAt SEC, we envision a world where our industry-leading recruitment services help maximize the potential of individuals and companies alike.
