Summary
The Environmental Permitting Specialist manages regulatory permitting activities for mining and land development projects. This role prepares environmental documentation, coordinates with regulatory agencies, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit environmental permits for mining operations, land disturbance, water management, and reclamation.
Compile and analyze environmental data, including water, soil, and habitat assessments.
Maintain detailed land records, property boundaries, easements, and mineral ownership documentation.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies, consultants, and engineering teams throughout the permitting process.
Ensure company compliance with environmental laws and mining regulations.
Prepare AutoCAD or GIS-based maps required for permit applications.
Review environmental regulations and identify changes that affect operations.
Support internal audits, inspections, and environmental reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, natural resources, or related field.
Experience with environmental permitting in mining, construction, or land development.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, and mapping tools.
Knowledge of land records, deeds, mineral ownership, and tax-mapping systems.
Strong communication skills for regulatory coordination and documentation preparation.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, sit, drive for long periods of time, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish the essential job functions.
Ability to perform non-repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs
Ability to read, write, and speak English
