Job DetailsDescriptionThe Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department is responsible for providing primary patient care in the Emergency Department including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.Location: Anacortes, WA, OnsiteSchedule: Mid-shift (1pm-1am) / 0.6 FTE per weekSalary Range: $37.64 – $71.35 per hourShift DifferentialsNight: +$4.75/hrWeekend: +$4.00/hrBSN Premium: +$1.00/hrCertification Premium: +$1.00/hrWhat You Will Be DoingProvide direct care to patients from infancy to adulthoodDemonstrates understanding of triage principles of life-threatening, urgent, and non-emergentcategories of ED patients, and takes appropriate actions.Administers prescribed medications and treatments, determining correct dosage calculations ofprescribed medications in accordance with approved nursing standards.Utilizes 5 step nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) toprovide patient care.Participates in communication and problem solving with patient/significant other, health teammembers and other departments.Assesses knowledge level of patient/significant other and determines patient’s priority of feltTeaches patients about their health needs including treatments, self -care, precautions, andaccess to future assistance by the health care team.Documents appropriate components of the nursing process according to established standards.Assesses own learning needs and establishes priorities and develops action plan.Promotes and maintains a high level of confidentiality for self and others. Respects the rights ofGives input to annual budgetMust have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers,Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.Must meet regular attendance standard and must stay at or below average sick leave utilization8 hours of stroke or related education per year.Other duties as delegated by director. What You Will Bring To The RoleGraduation from an accredited school of nursingCurrent Washington State RN LicenseNurses with Emergency Department Experience:Current AHA BLS certificationCurrent AHA ACLS certificationCurrent ENPC or PALS current or completed within 60 days of hireTrauma Nurse Care Curriculum (TNCC) proof of completion at least once in careerNurses without Emergency Department Experience:Current AHA BLS certificationCurrent AHA ACLS certificationPALS completion within 60 days of hireENPC completion within 90 days of hireTrauma Nurse Care Curriculum (TNCC) completion within 6 months of hire.Can identify emergent situations, and is able to perform in a calm and professional manner during the emergency situation.Can demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and can identify each patient's/employee’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.Ability to respond in a constructive and sensitive manner to the verbal and non-verbal behavior of patients, families, visitors, peers, and other hospital personnel.Ability to accept constructive criticism and take action to improve.Ability to perform position responsibilities with emotional maturityMake a Difference with UsAt Island Health, every role contributes to our mission of compassionate, high-quality care.
