Account Specialist
The Senior Billing and Accounts Specialist is responsible for managing invoicing and collections for a diverse and complex portfolio of sponsored research awards. This role also supports the Associate Director, Cash Management by providing guidance and assistance to team members.
Key Responsibilities Manage cash activities for sponsored research awards, including invoicing, collections, and account reconciliation
Monitor and review accounts; collaborate with sponsors and internal departments to resolve invoicing and collection issues while maintaining strong working relationships
Review and interpret award documents to ensure accurate invoicing in compliance with sponsor requirements
Utilize various electronic systems and portals for invoice creation and submission
Partner with management on strategic initiatives, perform advanced data analysis, and support departmental goals and operational efficiency
Provide guidance and support to team members as needed
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field
5–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a university or customer service environment
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills (written and verbal)
High attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to manage processes and collaborate with stakeholders
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including use of complex formulas for data analysis
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with detailed financial records and legacy accounting systems
Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems
Work Arrangement Hybrid schedule thereafter (1–2 days in office)
