Located in Deer Isle, Maine, DISES is part of a beautiful coastal community just east of Penobscot Bay along the Eggemoggin Reach. Our school community is fortunate to enjoy the picturesque beaches, trails, and historical landmarks that surround us, enriching both our personal lives and educational environment.Position SummaryWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated Grade 3,4, or 5 Teacher to join our team. The Teacher will be placed in a grade level as a self-contained teacher for the grade level for which they are the best match. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom where students can develop strong academic, social, and emotional skills. This role requires a focus on foundational literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking, tailored to meet the diverse needs of our learners.Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with state standards for the grade you are teaching in core subjects including reading, writing, math, and science Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and meet diverse learning styles Assess and monitor student progress regularly, adjusting instruction to support growth Foster a positive classroom community that encourages curiosity, respect, and confidence Communicate effectively with families about student progress and classroom activities Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school-wide initiatives and professionaldevelopment Support social-emotional learning and help build a safe, inclusive environmentQualifications Valid teaching certification for elementary education, preferably with experience or endorsement for Grade 3,4, and 5 Strong knowledge of literacy and numeracy development for early elementary students Excellent classroom management and communication skills Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment Why Join Us?At Deer Isle Stonington School, you will be part of a close-knit, caring community where the natural beauty of our coastal surroundings inspires both teaching and learning.
