The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the direct and indirect provision of professional nursing care for the patients in the Med Surg department. The RN is accountable for ongoing evaluation and documentation of all components of care delivered to patients, including coordination and direct supervision of the patient care team.

ResponsibilitiesProvide professional nursing care within RN scope of practice in accordance with hospital policies and standards
Support patient care needs across inpatient units, Emergency Department, and Outpatient Infusion services as assigned
Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition using critical thinking and clinical judgment
Administer medications, treatments, and nurse-collected labs as ordered and document care accurately in the electronic health record
Collaborate with providers, care teams, patients, and families to develop and update individualized plans of care
Ensure a safe, clean, and compliant care environment, adhering to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards
Coordinate patient flow and bed placement in collaboration with clinical leadership
Serve as a resource and mentor to support staff, including participation in orientation and oversight of delegated care
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and complete unit-specific operational responsibilitiesQualificationsMinimum Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
RN current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa.
Must possess and maintain current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and Dependent Adult and Child Abuse
Mandatory Reporter certification as outlined per policy.
