Position Summary
As a Non-CDL Box Truck Delivery Driver at Hartville Hardware, you are responsible for delivering building materials, hardware, and lumber to various locations, including residential, commercial, and job sites. While operating company vehicles that do not require a CDL, you must still adhere to DOT regulations for non-CDL vehicles. Your role focuses on ensuring safety, providing excellent customer service, and making timely deliveries to support our customers’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Operations:
Operate company-owned delivery vehicles (such as box trucks or flatbeds) in compliance with DOT regulations, including hours of service and vehicle inspections.
Safely load, unload, and secure materials on delivery trucks, ensuring items are safely transported.
Ensure accurate and timely delivery of products to customer locations, including residential, business, and construction job sites.
Customer Service:
Provide exceptional customer service during delivery, addressing customer inquiries and ensuring satisfaction.
Obtain customer signatures or other required documentation upon delivery.
Communicate effectively with customers to provide updates on delivery status and address any concerns.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate delivery records, delivery confirmations, and any incidents or delays.
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations regarding vehicle maintenance, inspection, and hours of service.
Report any discrepancies or damaged items to the delivery manager immediately.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in safe working condition, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and load security.
Document and report any vehicle maintenance needs or safety concerns to management.
Keep vehicles clean and organized for safe and efficient operation.
Safety:
Adhere to all company safety policies and DOT regulations, including proper handling of materials and ensuring all safety equipment is used.
Operate delivery vehicles in a safe manner, following traffic laws and safety guidelines.
Assist in maintaining an organized and safe work environment in the yard when not on deliveries.
Qualifications
Experience:
Previous delivery experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge of DOT regulations for non-CDL vehicles is a plus.
Familiarity with building materials and hardware products is helpful.
Skills:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to operate delivery vehicles safely and comply with DOT regulations.
Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
Ability to move and transport other heavy materials with relevant equipment.
Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
