SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSEThe Scientist III, Bioconjugation (ADC) Process Development will contribute to Exelixis' Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs) technology platforms by developing scale-able and robust downstream ADC processes and supporting technology transfer efforts for clinical GMP manufacturing of ADCs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESDesign, execute, and interpret experiments related to development, optimization, and scale-up of biologics focused on ADC bioconjugation and purification processes.Develop subject-matter expertise in ADC process development and manufacturing to support CMC activities.Collaborate with research to understand conjugation chemistries and transition processes from research to CMC development.Identify, evaluate, and implement new and existing technologies to improve process efficiency, control, and understanding.Apply DOE and advanced statistical techniques to design process-development experiments.Author high-quality documents including technical reports, SOPs, experimental protocols, tech-transfer reports, batch-record reviews, and sampling plans.Support manufacturing floor activities by providing scale-up, technical support, and troubleshooting to clinical and commercial manufacturing sites.Work effectively with CDMOs (preferred).Possess familiarity with analytical, formulation, and general CMC scopes for biologics (preferred).SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNone; directs work only (no direct reports) by coordinating with CMO, consultants, or third parties.EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering, or related field AND at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.Master's degree in the same fields AND at least 1 year of relevant industry experience.Equivalent combination of education and experience.EXPERIENCEDirect experience designing and implementing experiments to evaluate bioconjugation processes, including ADCs, is preferred.Hands-on experience with ADC chemistry, reaction processes, and purification methods (e.g., tangential flow filtration, chromatography).Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of technical transfer for biologics manufacturing of bioconjugations (preferred).Experience with development and manufacturing of mAbs, bispecifics, or linker-toxin ADC production, and familiarity with analytical methods (preferred).KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESCollaborate with cross-functional teams internally and with external CDMOs and partners.Multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while delivering high-quality work.Self-motivated, accountable, and inquisitive with excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.Creative thinker and complex problem solver with strong attention to detail.Work independently and as part of local and global teams.Primarily work in laboratories or office settings.Exposure to hazardous materials and extreme cold possible.Limited travel required.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDSModern open-plan office with dual monitors, ergonomic chairs, and collaborative workspace.Potential exposure to hazardous materials and extreme cold.Limited travel required.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTSTravel requirements can be listed by stating up to certain % of time traveling.COMPENSATION & BENEFITSBase pay range: $89,500 – $128,000 annually (adjusted for geographic region).
