This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to make frequent trips to all the District's schools, grounds, and facilities.JOB GOALThe goal of this position is work with members of the district and school leadership teams to align communication efforts with the district's vision and mission. The position also works to research and secure funding from public and private sources to support the district's goals. This position represents the district and will attend activities in the evenings and on weekends as necessary.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Develop and implement strategic communication plans for district initiatives and priorities.2. Serve as the initial point of contact for news media and coordinate media responses with district leaders.3. Produce and distribute news releases, media advisories, and other publications and proactively work to coordinate media coverage of district events and programs.4. Coordinate crisis and incident communications, ensuring accurate and timely updates.5. Serve as a liaison between school and district leaders and the media.6. Respond to requests for public information in accordance with policy and legal requirements.7. Maintain and support the implementation of the district's crisis communication plan.8. Provide strategic direction for a district social media strategy and monitor social media engagement and adjust to improve effectiveness.9. Work with district leadership to support digital marketing and outreach for recruitment and retention.10. Works with district and school leadership in locating prospects for grants and requests for proposals while working to develop a strategic vision and plan to support current and future financial development opportunities.11. Responsible for the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals with the expectation that grants awarded will equal or exceed the cost of salary and benefits of the position annually.12. Represents the district at local business association and community meetings.13. Manages programmatic needs of grant budgets and financial reporting for all grants in cooperation with the business office, other departments, and schools.14.
