Our team is known for delivering high-quality work, operating with accountability, and building long-term partnerships across both public and private sectors.If youre looking for a role where your expertise directly impacts project success, profitability, and company growththis is it.Position SummaryWe are seeking a Pavement Marking Estimator to lead the development of accurate, competitive, and strategic project estimates.This role is critical to our successbridging operations, project management, and leadership to ensure we are bidding work that is both profitable and executable.The ideal candidate brings strong construction estimating experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Scope AnalysisReview plans, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project scope and requirementsPerform quantity take-offs and field evaluations as neededCost Estimating & Bid DevelopmentPrepare detailed labor, material, and equipment cost estimatesDevelop competitive, accurate bids aligned with company strategy and market conditionsLead the full bid process, including bid submission and follow-upVendor & Subcontractor ManagementSolicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from vendors and subcontractorsBuild and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure cost efficiency and reliabilityCollaboration & Project SupportPartner with operations and project management teams to align estimates with executionSupport project teams throughout the lifecycle with cost tracking, change orders, and budget alignmentRisk & Financial AnalysisIdentify risks, cost drivers, and potential challenges impacting project successAnalyze historical data and project outcomes to continuously improve estimating accuracyReporting & Continuous ImprovementTrack estimated vs. actual project costs and identify variancesContribute to process improvements, systems, and estimating best practicesComplianceMaintain working knowledge of ODOT specifications, roadway standards, and safety requirementsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; construction-related degree preferredProven experience in construction estimating (pavement marking, traffic control, or roadway preferred)Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and technical documentsProficiency in Excel and estimating softwareStrong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneouslyExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsSelf-starter with the ability to work independently and make sound decisionsWhat Sets You ApartExperience with ODOT or DOT-regulated projectsField experience in pavement marking or roadway constructionAbility to think beyond numbersunderstanding execution, risk, and profitabilityPhysical & Work RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbsOccasional field visits requiredLocal and regional travel as neededWhy First Star SafetyWe invest in our people and provide a stable, growth-oriented environment where your work matters.Benefits Include:Competitive pay based on experienceHealth, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) with company matchPaid Time Off & HolidaysLife and Disability InsuranceOngoing training and professional developmentAdditional RequirementsMust comply with our Substance Abuse Prevention PolicyPre-employment drug screening requiredStatement of FlexibilityThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
