Position Type: Student Support Services/Special Education Teacher Date Posted: 5/18/2026 Location: Various locations Date Available: 2026-27 school year Closing Date: Until filled For the 2026-27 school year, Greenwich Public Schools seeks a full-time special education teacher to teach half-time at Hamilton Avenue Elementary School and half-time at New Lebanon Elementary School. Job Description The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives, follows state-mandated due process procedures and functions as the IEP Case Manager to assigned students. ResponsibilitiesComplete triennial evaluations for individual students using a variety of assessment methodsParticipate as a member of the Planning and Placement Team (PPT)Develop and implement an annual Individualized Education Program (IEP) in developing the Present Levels of Educational Performance, appropriate goals, and objectivesEmploy various teaching strategies, methods, and principles of learning to assist students in achieving their IEP goalsEffectively manage the classroom and student behaviorCollaborate and consult with educational professionals and community service providers QualificationsCurrent CT Special Education Teacher certification, or certifiability, is required (e.g., #065)Experience is preferred but not requiredKnowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of special education Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
