PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Nurstead is looking for individuals to assist with running our warming center in the coldest months of the year. Our warming center is an extension of our Drop-In Center and Sage House programs, helping individuals who are homeless to have a safe place to stay warm, spend the night, and work on items that help to create sustainable independent living situations.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
To provide support services as part of a multi-disciplinary team to persons with mental illness and/or substance abuse diagnosis who are participants in the program. Service provision will focus on working with clients to enhance their recovery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure safety of residence overnight.
To provide individualized, ongoing guidance, coaching and support.
To provide training in the use of personal and community resources.
Assist in developing formal and informal community supports.
Assist the person served in increasing social support networks of relatives, friends and/or significant others.
To offer encouragement in times of crisis.
To advocate on behalf of persons with behavioral health problems to protect the client’s rights and to assist in reducing associated stigma.
To work in cooperation with other providers, family members or significant others involved in the client’s recovery plan.
To attend Agency staff meetings, Case Conferences and Individual and Group Supervision.
To observe all rules of confidentiality relating to clinical information and treatment, both internally and when dealing with external agencies and/or individuals.
Engage with and provide follow up services to individuals seen by mobile crisis team members.
To be responsible for understanding client’s rights policy and procedures.
To participate in staff training and development.
To maintain professional standards at all times. To observe the guidelines established within the Code of Ethics and Conduct.
To perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required.
Past or present consumer of mental health or substance abuse services with a history of managing ones own illness for at least two years.
Awareness of the importance of recovery in living with a mental illness or addictions problem.
Past experience working directly with people in a service oriented field is beneficial. Active membership in a consumer advocacy or self-help group.
Demonstrated Competencies
Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with consumers, referrals sources, and other community providers is absolutely essential.
Ability to relate to a diverse population
Good written and verbal communication skills
LANGUAGE
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
Must be able to pass criminal and CYFD background checks to be employed with Nurstead Mental & Consulting Services.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
