PFLAG San Antonio is the local chapter of PFLAG National, the first and largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. Since 1994, we’ve been proud to serve the San Antonio community through peer support, education, advocacy, and community engagement.Our mission is to support LGBTQ+ individuals, their families, and allies through peer support meetings that offer connection and strength during challenging times. We also provide educational programs-including presentations by community organizations-and actively participate in local events to raise awareness and share vital resources. You'll work with passionate, committed individuals and help shape the future of PFLAG San Antonio. This is a voluntary, 3-year term position open to individuals 18 and older.We are currently recruiting for the following Board Chair roles. Each role is essential to our mission, and we’ll work with your schedule to support your involvement.Community Events ChairOrganize and oversee community events, speakers, and engagementsRecruit and train volunteers to represent PFLAG in the communityServe as the point of contact for local and national LGBTQ+ eventsEvaluate event effectiveness and report outcomes to the BoardFundraising ChairIdentify and cultivate donor and sponsor relationshipsPlan and execute fundraising initiativesCollaborate with other chairs to promote events and campaignsHelp set financial goals and support budget planningDiversity ChairLook for diverse community organizations PFLAG could present toAttend informational meetings for events by community organizationsLook for ways PFLAG could support DE&I efforts at eventsInvite diverse organizations to present/educate at PFLAG Support MeetingsEducate PFLAG members about diverse groups, what they do, and why it is important Board Member ExpectationsWhether you're a seasoned nonprofit leader or new to board service, your experience and passion matter.Be at least 18 years oldAttend at least 9 support meetings in person annuallyParticipate in community events and board meetingsServe a 3-year term, elected by chapter membersComplete orientation and training
