This field-based role focuses on converting homes to natural gas and supporting customers through the conversion journey.This position will require travel to other Elizabethtown Gas offices and may require work outside of normal business hours as needed for customer appointments.Position Responsibilities:Deliver on assigned sales targets by maintaining strong prospecting activities and achieving high appointment and close rates. Follow up on leads and develop effective relationships with current and prospective customers leveraging lead-generating activities such as cold calling, door-to-door sales, neighborhood/group presentations as well as attendance at community events. Educate prospective customers on the conversion to natural gas process, setting clear and honest expectations of timelines and activities. Build and foster a network of referral partnerships to create new opportunities for customer and revenue growth including relationships with HVAC contractors, real estate professionals, and other trade organizations. Capture sales activity in Salesforce. Onboard new residential customers and recommend improvement measures based on Energy Efficiency Programs. Maintain accurate records including sales call reports, expense reimbursement forms, etc. Attend regular sales meetings and development training.    Perform other duties as assigned.  Environmental Working ConditionsPerform field work tasks year round Safety sensitive Travel/Driving to meet with customers Frequently meet with contractors at construction sites with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise atmospheric conditions such as dust, dampness, humidity QualificationsRequired Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent is required. College education or degree is preferred. Minimum of 3 years sales experience, with at least 2 years in successful direct sales in a commissioned sales environment; or relevant work experience Cold calling and door to door sales experience Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals Valid driver’s license Proficiency working in a CRM platform, Salesforce preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Required Skills:Exceptional people and project management skills Outstanding time management, prospecting, and presentation skills Dedication to delivering positive customer experiences Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers in a competitive environment Ability to develop and nurture collaborative working relationships with Sales team and other internal business partners including Marketing, Design, and Engineering Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness, and the ability to work with minimal supervision Self-directed, highly motivated, results-driven, problem-solver Preferred Skills:Salesforce experience Project management experience Ability to understand, explain and conduct energy cost and consumption comparisons Explore the PossibilitiesSouth Jersey Industries employs a diverse range of talent – from construction contractors to environmental specialists.
