Senior Java Web Services Developer with AI-Assisted Development Experience

Position OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Java Web Services Developer to design, build, deploy, and support secure, scalable web services hosted on AWS cloud platforms. The ideal candidate has deep experience developing Java-based APIs and microservices, implementing automated CI/CD delivery pipelines, and using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, and modernization efforts.Required Qualifications· 7+ years of professional software development experience, including significant hands-on experience with Java web services and enterprise application development.· Strong proficiency with Java, object-oriented design, RESTful API development, service-oriented architecture, and microservices patterns.· Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, JPA/Hibernate, Maven or Gradle, and automated unit and integration testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, or Testcontainers.· Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting services hosted on AWS cloud platforms.· Practical experience creating or maintaining CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, scan, deploy, rollback, and release activities.· Experience with Git-based source control workflows, branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and release management.· Working knowledge of containers, Docker, Linux environments, application logging, monitoring, and operational troubleshooting.· Understanding of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, secrets management, encryption, network controls, vulnerability remediation, and secure API design.· Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as code completion, code generation, test generation, documentation assistance, or code analysis tools, in a professional software engineering environment.· Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.· AWS certification such as AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.Compensation$140,000.00-$150,000.00 annually, plus benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, PTO, and partial 401(k) match VettingCandidates selected will be subject to a background investigation for clearance eligibility by our government client.ThunderYard Solutions is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
