Capital Assets Accounting Manager

We are partnering with a global, multi-entity organization to identify a Capital Asset Accounting Manager to lead the global capital asset accounting function within a shared services environment. This role will oversee fixed asset accounting across multiple entities, including capital projects, depreciation, and Construction in Progress (CIP), while partnering with Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Tax teams globally.The position will focus on ensuring compliance with US GAAP, corporate accounting policies, and internal control standards while driving process improvement and operational excellence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:Lead and manage the global Capital Asset Accounting team within a shared services environment supporting multiple regions, entities, and business units.Own end-to-end capital asset accounting processes, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, impairments, transfers, and Construction in Progress (CIP).Ensure all capital asset transactions are recorded accurately and timely in compliance with US GAAP, company policies, and internal control requirements.Administer and enhance capital asset accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistency and compliance across global entities.Assess the effectiveness of internal controls related to capital expenditures and fixed assets and assist in designing new controls for evolving business activities.Maintain ownership of asset-related record-to-report processes to ensure financial statement integrity.Review and approve asset-related journal entries, depreciation calculations, and balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy.Resolve complex accounting issues and ensure asset accounting processes support timely and accurate month-end close.Evaluate and document accounting treatment for new or unusual asset transactions, including research of applicable standards and preparation of technical accounting memoranda as needed.Oversee accounting for capital projects and CIP, coordinating with Engineering, Operations, and Project Management to ensure timely capitalization.Support implementation of new accounting standards and disclosure requirements related to fixed assets and leases, including development of processes, controls, and training.Partner with Corporate Tax and subsidiary finance teams on asset capitalization, depreciation methods, and property-related tax reporting.Support internal SOX audits and external audits by providing documentation, analysis, and timely PBC deliverables.Develop and monitor performance metrics for capital asset accounting, including capitalization timeliness, reconciliation compliance, and audit outcomes.Build collaborative relationships with global stakeholders and foster a culture of teamwork.Manage and develop team members through development plans, training, and regular performance feedback.QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years of management experience.Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and accounting for fixed assets, capital projects, and depreciation.Experience supporting multi-entity and multinational organizations.Proven ability to drive process improvement, standardization, and automation initiatives.Demonstrated ability to build credibility and trust with a broad range of stakeholders.Experience supporting SOX compliance and internal/external audits.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft tools and experience with ERP systems and fixed asset subledger tools.Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) a plusProven people leader with ability to manage, motivate, and develop a professional team.
