Information Technology Technician

About the PositionUnder general supervision, perform a variety of assignments related to supporting technology in one or more specialized areas within the Information Technology Department, serving other departments within Shasta County; and perform related work as required. This position is based on-site in Redding, CA and is not eligible for remote work.ResponsibilitiesDesktop Computer Support: Installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of PC systems and peripherals, including printers, terminal devices, network printers, communication equipment, cables, and modems; load and verify operating systems and software packages; provide customer training and technical support to the County's user community.Call Center: Tier-one support for IT Call Center calls, handling phone calls in a professional manner, transferring calls, creating service requests, and reporting issues to appropriate staff.Computer Operations: Operating and monitoring computer systems and peripheral equipment, initiating scheduled job processing, loading system printers, entering logs, performing diagnostic routines, and escalating issues to appropriate staff.QualificationsDesired experience:At least one year as a Personal Computer Technician with a minimum of 6 months end-user support.Understanding of network cabling and wiring principles related to PC connectivity to LAN/WAN.Experience supporting users of VPN solutions and Remote Desktop Services.Experience with end-user training and customer service related to Windows 11 usage.Experience in printer repair and troubleshooting hardware and configuration issues.Minimum 6 months in a complex call center using a ticket management system.Minimum qualifications:A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience.Special requirements:Possession of a valid California driver's license.Shasta County is an equal opportunity employer.J-18808-Ljbffr
