Assistant Superintendent

Brief DescriptionAn Assistant Superintendent’s primary role is to provide planning, scheduling, supervision, and oversight on a section of a larger project. This includes R&H employees as well as all subcontractors (electrical, plumbing, drywall, etc.).Essential Functions/Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & Compliance: Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and productive jobsite. Review and enforce Pre-Task-Planning for scopes of work under your direction. Comply with all R&H EHS directives and procedures and ensure subcontractor compliance.Site Management & Project Execution Assist in planning and supervising the portion of craft activities associated with your area of responsibility on the project, including determining methods of construction, manpower levels, temporary power sources and document actual hours worked. Assist in creating the project’s master schedule in MS Project with specific input on your area of responsibility. Create detailed schedule on portions of project designated by Senior Superintendent/Superintendent. Provide Senior Superintendent/Superintendent with regular updates to the schedule.Identify potential schedule impacts and corrective actions. Work with project team to assess and resolve constructability issues as they arise. In conjunction with the project superintendent, coordinate and schedule workflow and material deliveries. Review project plans/documentation with quality and constructability in mind. Oversees the quality control plan for the project. Arrange all job site inspections, commissioning, etc. Supervise R&H employees, including completing evaluations, addressing performance issues, etc. Provide technical review of submittals, RFIs, detail or constructability conflicts in the contract documents and work in place. Manage project closeout and punch list process. Responsible for organizing and managing R&H and Subcontractor Foreman. Schedule and attend the site Foreman meeting to assure schedule and quality expectations are being communicated and documented.Communication Act as a liaison between the owner, architect, subcontractors, and R&H project team members. Coordinate information and documentation from owners, architects, and subcontractors. Build relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors. Communicate tasks clearly and respectfully to R&H employees and subcontractors. Advise project superintendent and R&H project team of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.Overall Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction. Drive to/from jobsites, meetings, etc.RequirementsQualifications/SkillsStrong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing.Thorough knowledge of building codes, safety regulations and inspection processes.Strong communication skills - written and oral.Strong leadership skills - ability to manage multiple subcontractors and schedule simultaneously.Able to read and interpret project drawings and specifications.Attention to detail, analytical approach to problems.Current knowledge of safety regulations and codes.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to use independent judgment and independent action.Valid driver's license and good driving record required.Education/ExperienceFour-year college / vocational / technical training preferred in construction/architecture/engineering or equivalent relevant experienceMinimum of six years of construction experienceOSHA 10/30-Hour TrainingProficient with construction scheduling software (ex. MS Project, Primavera, etc.)Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook)Proficient with Bluebam RevuAble to navigate in ERP, Safety and HRIS technology toolsSupervisory ResponsibilityFull supervisory responsibility for all people that come in contact with area of the job site. Must supervise work being performed by subcontractors and R&H employees. This may include 2-100 employees depending on project size. Additionally, there is frequent sitting/standing at a desk.Work EnvironmentThis position is requiring work in the outdoors in all types of weather. It requires walking, standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods, at times in confined spaces. Work occurs on ladders, scaffolds, and other above ground locations. Terrain is often uneven and sometimes not easily accessible. Employees may be exposed to dust, fumes, noise, and unpleasant variation in temperature. Work requires lifting and carrying heavy objects. Some positions require working around chemicals and caustic compounds. R&H will provide all necessary personal protective equipment to keep you safe. Projects are typically within a 50-mile radius of the office; however, this is not guaranteed and travel may be required.
