Job Title: Instructional Assistant, (Candidate Pool) Title I Campus 26-27Reports to: Campus PrincipalDept/Campus: Assigned CampusPay Grade: Paraprofessional PG-2Wage Status: Non-ExemptDays: 187Primary Purpose:Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under thesupervision of a certified teacher. This position is Title I funded and meets the intent and purpose of Title I, Part A of the ESSAgrant program. The respective employee will be assigned 100% to this federal grant program's single cost objective.Education/Certification Qualifications:High school diploma or GED, andOne of the following:Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework or an applicable number of semester hours as defined by the institution of higher education attended, whichever is less;Possess an associate (or higher) degree; orMeet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a local academic assessment -Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; orKnowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.Additionally, within one year of being hired, Title I, Part A paraprofessionals must have the Educational Aide state certification.Additionally, within one year of being hired, Title I, Part A paraprofessionals must have the Educational Aide state certification.Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work well with childrenAbility to communicate effectivelyExperience:Some experience working with childrenMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Assist teacher in preparing instructional materialsAssist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignmentsHelp maintain a neat and orderly classroomProvide orientation and assistance to substitute teachersConduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacherWork with individual students or small groups of studentsHelp supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.Professional Conduct:Maintain professional interactions with staff, parents, community and visitors.Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and withstand pressures. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Furthermore, I understand that this federally funded position is covered under Texas' Ed-Flex Statewide Administrative Waiver and requires no additional time distribution documentation as long as my work continues to meet the Ed-Flex Statewide Administrative Waiver requirements.Disclaimer: This is a grant-funded position.
