Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionPosition MissionTo elevate the skills, safety, and professionalism of the plumbing team through hands-on training, field mentorship, and alignment with operational and code standards.OverviewIHS is hiring a Plumbing Technical Trainer to lead training and development for residential plumbing technicians and apprentices. In this role, you will design and deliver technical instruction, support field training, and help create a culture of learning and craftsmanship. From onboarding new apprentices to coaching licensed plumbers, your work will ensure our team delivers consistent, code-compliant, and high-quality service.This role is ideal for a licensed plumber with strong technical experience, leadership ability, and a passion for teaching and team development.Key Responsibilities:Lead hands-on training for plumbing service and install technicians, including apprentices and experienced team membersFacilitate onboarding programs that cover safety, tools, systems, procedures, and company standardsInstruct on plumbing code, best practices, and technical troubleshooting for residential systemsSupport technician development through ride-alongs, field coaching, and skill assessmentsMaintain and update training labs, classrooms, and equipment for hands-on instructionPartner with operations to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training programsPrepare and support team members for licensing, certifications, and continuing educationReinforce customer service and communication expectations during technical instructionTrack training participation, skill growth, and program effectiveness over timeStay current with changes in plumbing codes, materials, tools, and industry trendsRequirements5+ years of hands-on residential plumbing experienceCurrent Journeyman or Master Plumber license requiredPrior leadership, training, or mentoring experience preferredStrong knowledge of plumbing code, system installation, and diagnosticsComfortable leading both classroom and hands-on instructionExperience with ServiceTitan or similar systems a plusExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to travel between training facilities and job sites as neededMust pass background check and drug screeningWhy you should work with us: One Team.
