Based in Southbridge, MA, you’ll perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant. You’ll operate, repair, and maintain the water treatment plant’s facilities; perform routine laboratory tests; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of workSpecific ResponsibilitiesPerforms any combinations of following tasks pertinent to controlling operation of plantOperates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/ wastewater, sludge, and effluentMonitors gauges, meters, and control panelsObserves variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readingsOperates valves and gates either manually or by remote controlStarts and stops pump, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processesMaintains shift log and records meter and gauge readingsTakes samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analysesPerforms routine maintenance functions and custodial dutiesMakes operating decisions in absence of supervisory personnelHere's what you'll needExperience with computer operations with the ability to prepare spreadsheets and word processing documents, and enter information into maintenance management systemPossess a valid driver’s license with no major infractions.Ideally, you’ll also haveKnowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; principles and methods of biological and chemical sewage analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes, principles of supervisionKnowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systemsHigh School Diploma or GEDExperience operating a wastewater treatment facilityWorking ConditionsSafety is a core value at Jacobs.
