Additional paid sick leave is also provided if required by state or local law.Summary of Position:The Data Engineer & Database Administrator will build and maintain scalable data pipelines while ensuring databases are reliable, secure, and high-performing. This role works closely with analysts, engineers, and product teams to deliver clean and timely data.Essential Functions:Design, build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines across multiple systemsDesign and optimize data models in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Amazon RedshiftDevelop and manage data workflows using AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, Kinesis)Administer and maintain database environments across development, staging, and productionMonitor data pipelines and databases, troubleshoot issues, and implement alertsOptimize query performance, indexes, and configurations across relational and NoSQL systemsManage database provisioning, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery (RDS, MongoDB, Redshift)Ensure database security, including access control, encryption, and role managementPlan capacity and scale systems to support growing data needsDefine and enforce data retention and archival policiesCollaborate with analytics and product teams to support reporting and data needsDocument data pipelines, database processes, and operational proceduresParticipate in code reviews and follow engineering best practicesLead small technical initiatives or projectsConduct or participate in code reviews with a coaching lensMentor or provide guidance to junior team members (Level I)Competencies:Ensures AccountabilityTech SavvyCommunicates EffectivelyValues DifferencesCustomer FocusResourcefulnessDrives ResultsPlans and PrioritizesDecision QualitySelf-DevelopmentWork Environment:This position is based in a professional office setting and regularly utilizes workplace technology, including computers, smartphones, multifunction printers, cloud-based filing systems, and collaboration tools.Physical Demands:This role requires physical capabilities that support the successful execution of key responsibilities. The employee regularly engages in verbal and written communication with colleagues and clients to address project-related inquiries and must be able to convey accurate information clearly and efficiently. The position involves remaining seated at a workstation for approximately 75% of the time, with occasional movement throughout the office to access equipment, supplies, and shared resources. Daily tasks include consistent use of computers and standard office technology such as keyboards, printers, and multifunction devices.
