Engineering Maintenance ManagerAutomotiveColumbus OHRole OverviewOur client is seeking an Engineering Maintenance Manager to lead both the process engineering and maintenance functions within its Columbus manufacturing facility. This role will oversee the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of plant equipment while leading engineering initiatives, capital projects, and maintenance strategy.This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring plant equipment operates safely and efficiently while also supporting future production growth and new product launches.Leadership ScopeThis position oversees both engineering and maintenance teams.Direct leadership includes:Engineering Team• ~7 engineersMaintenance Team• ~13 maintenance technicians• Coverage across three production shiftsThis person will act as the central leader responsible for reliability, equipment performance, and engineering execution across the plant.Core Focus Areas of the Role1. Equipment Reliability & Preventative MaintenanceA major focus of the role will be developing and executing a predictive / preventative maintenance strategy to maximize equipment uptime and reduce unexpected failures.Responsibilities include:Ensuring equipment operates at optimal safety and performance standardsAchieving plant equipment uptime targetsManaging maintenance documentation and standardsImplementing maintenance best practices and reliability strategiesSupporting plant KPI performance through equipment reliabilityThe company is particularly interested in candidates who understand modern reliability practices such as:Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)Mean Time to Failure (MTTF)Predictive maintenance programsMaintenance software / CMMS systemsEquipment monitoring technologies (vibration analysis, infrared thermography, etc.)2. Capital Planning & Budget ManagementThe second major component of this role is financial and capital planning.Responsibilities include:Defining plant capital needsBuilding and managing the maintenance and engineering budgetEvaluating equipment investmentsManaging project costs and vendor spendEnsuring projects are delivered on time and within budgetThis person will help determine where to spend capital to improve plant reliability and production output.Engineering & Project LeadershipThe Engineering Maintenance Manager will also lead engineering efforts tied to new product development and equipment installation.Key responsibilities include:Planning and supervising new equipment installationsLeading plant improvement and engineering projectsManaging external vendors and contractorsSupporting future production launchesOne major upcoming initiative includes a significant Ford program scheduled for 2028, which will require engineering planning and equipment readiness in the coming years.Safety & Operational LeadershipThis role plays an important leadership role in maintaining a safe production environment.Responsibilities include:Ensuring all team members follow safety procedures and protocolsEnsuring safety-related corrective actions are completed on timeSupporting EHS, Quality, and Lean Manufacturing systemsManaging team performance and developmentPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering (preferred)5–7+ years of relevant experience in:Manufacturing engineeringEquipment installation and modificationProject managementMaintenance leadershipStrong understanding of:Manufacturing equipment and systemsLean manufacturingEHS and quality standardsReliability and maintenance practicesCompensationBase Salary: $120,000+ based on experienceBonus: 10% performance bonus
