DescriptionPosition at BAART ProgramsCompassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!Position OverviewThe Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for supporting patients through medically assisted treatments and providing techniques to manage opioid addiction. The counselor facilitates both individual and group sessions focused on crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patient progress throughout the counseling process, and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and fellow counselors to help patients achieve positive overall outcomes.ResponsibilitiesConducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determinationFacilitates establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment planCompletes Bio-psychosocial assessment.Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatmentInvolve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possibleRespond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaintsDevelop aftercare plans and discharge plansOther related duties as determined by the supervisorQualificationsAssociate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Behavioral ScienceSubstance abuse counseling experience, preferred.Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
