Facilities Electrical Engineer

Electrical Engineer – Data Center Power & UPS SystemsLocation: Dearborn, MI (Onsite)Role OverviewSeeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to support critical power infrastructure across data centers and manufacturing plant computer rooms.This role focuses on facility-level electrical power systems, ensuring reliable, 24/7 operation of mission-critical environments. You will work directly with UPS systems, power distribution infrastructure, and electrical designs, providing technical leadership and recommendations to support system performance, uptime, and long-term capacity planning.This is a highly technical, individual contributor role requiring direct electrical engineering experience and the ability to work closely with vendors, internal teams, and real-world infrastructure systems.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a technical lead for electrical power systems, with a strong focus on UPS architecture and integrationAnalyze and determine power requirements, load capacity, and redundancy strategies for critical environmentsDevelop and provide technical recommendations on electrical design, system improvements, and capacity planningPartner with external vendors and equipment providers to evaluate solutions, review designs, and ensure alignment with Ford standardsInterpret and work from electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and power distribution designsLead and contribute to design reviews for UPS systems, switchgear, PDUs, generators, and related infrastructureCollaborate with data center operations, facilities, and engineering teams to ensure reliable power deliveryTroubleshoot and resolve electrical and power-related issues in live production environmentsSupport upgrades, installations, and enhancements to data center and plant computer room infrastructureTake a hands-on, independent approach to solving complex electrical challengesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldDirect, hands-on electrical engineering experience with power systems (not solely oversight or PM experience)Strong foundation in electrical power systems and engineering fundamentalsHands-on experience with UPS systems, including:Integration within facility power infrastructureLoad calculation and power capacity planningRedundancy and reliability concepts (e.g., N+1, failover)Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and schematicsExperience providing technical guidance, recommendations, or lead-level support on electrical systemsExperience working with or coordinating third-party vendors or equipment providersSelf-directed with the ability to work independently in fast-paced, uptime-critical environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience in data centers, manufacturing facilities, or mission-critical environmentsExposure to power distribution equipment, such as:PDUs (Power Distribution Units)SwitchgearBackup generatorsATS (Automatic Transfer Switches)Experience supporting 24/7 operations or uptime-critical systems
