With a nationwide footprint and opportunities for growth across multiple locations and disciplines, SPL is a place where you can build a career while making a real-world impact.We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead environmental water testing laboratory operations in Conroe, TX.In this role, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership for a growing environmental laboratory that plays a critical role in supporting regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and public health. You'll be responsible for overall laboratory performance, leading efforts that drive quality, compliance, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and sustainable growth. Working closely with laboratory supervisors, quality leaders, and cross-functional partners, you'll champion continuous improvement, strengthen operational performance, and foster a culture built on accountability, scientific excellence, and exceptional service.What You’ll DoProvide overall leadership and operational oversight for environmental water testing laboratory operationsLead and develop laboratory supervisors and technical leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvementMaintain responsibility for laboratory performance, staffing strategy, resource planning, operational efficiency, and business resultsEnsure compliance with EPA methodologies, NELAP/TNI accreditation requirements, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirementsOversee laboratory throughput, turnaround times, productivity, and service delivery to meet client expectations and business objectivesDirect laboratory resource planning, including personnel, instrumentation, equipment, facilities, and laboratory suppliesMaintain and strengthen laboratory quality systems, QA/QC programs, data integrity practices, and accreditation readinessReview laboratory performance metrics and quality indicators to drive operational excellence and continuous improvementLead internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and corrective action initiatives to ensure ongoing compliance and accreditation successIdentify and implement operational improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, capacity, and overall laboratory performancePartner with Quality, Client Services, Operations, and Business Development teams to support customer satisfaction, business growth, and strategic initiativesProvide leadership and guidance regarding laboratory capabilities, analytical services, and operational best practicesSupport employee development, succession planning, and leadership growth within the laboratory organizationPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsWhat You’ll BringBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline5+ years of progressive leadership experience overseeing environmental laboratory operations within an accredited testing environmentProven experience leading teams through audits, inspections, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiativesStrong understanding of environmental analytical testing, laboratory quality systems, and regulatory compliance requirementsWorking knowledge of EPA methodologies, NELAP/TNI accreditation standards, and environmental testing best practicesProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and laboratory reporting systemsWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and total compensation packageMedical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchEmployer-paid life, AD&D, and disability insurancePaid time off, sick leave, and paid holidaysPaid parental leaveEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Tuition reimbursement and professional development supportWork ScheduleFull-time, onsite position based in Conroe, TX Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or respond to operational issues as business needs requireOur Commitment to Diversity & InclusionAt SPL, we believe that a diverse team is a strong team.
