Community Organizer (Part Time)
Neighbor to Neighbor Massachusetts (N2N): N2N is a member-led, community based, civic engagement organization dedicated to achieving economic and environmental justice. Transformative work is at the heart of our mission and cuts across all our work. We have Chapters in Lynn, Springfield, Holyoke and Worcester.
Main Responsibilities of the Position:
Build a strong Chapter by recruiting members through door to door canvassing, organizing public events and conducting one-on-one meetings.
Invest in members’ leadership by holding and facilitating regular member meetings designed to elevate members’ political analysis
Manage and support membership, provide skill trainings, and create opportunities for members to take on leadership roles in campaigns, actions and other activities
Identify and lead with members local campaigns that respond to local needs and build members’ leadership and strengthen the Chapter
Coordinate and integrate the Chapter work with N2N’s statewide campaigns alongside other chapters
Enter and maintain organizing related information in the Voter Activation Network and Action Builder
Coordinate local media campaigns together with the Communications Director, and foster local/statewide media relations
Represent our position and values in ally spaces
Implement voter engagement and electoral campaigns
Manage donor portfolio through donor cultivation and solicitation as assigned by the Development Director
Qualifications and Experience
Preferred Languages: Spanish and English
Demonstrates passion for social, economic and environmental justice
Demonstrates understanding of the struggles of class and racial inequities and their root causes
Strong political analysis of social justice oppression and/or direct, personal experience with the issues N2N organizes under: i.e. Housing, Climate, Criminal Justice Reform, Solidarity Economy, Health Reform
Experience doing outreach work in culturally diverse communities
Canvassing experience (required)
Able to take initiative, work independently AND be able to collaborate within various teams
Strong writing, computer, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to building unity in a multi-racial community
Experience in issue, labor, electoral or community organizing
Willingness to work flexible hours; some late nights and weekends
Ability to work remotely, out in the field and within an office/meeting environment
Salary & Benefits:This full-time position pays $34,000- $42,500. Benefits include vacation, sick days, fully paid health and disability insurance, travel reimbursement, a 401k program, and opportunities for career growth.
