Platform Engineer, Systems Engineering

OverviewJob PurposeIntercontinental Exchange presents a unique opportunity for a full-time Engineer to join a team responsible for ICE OpenShift container platform. The Engineer will drive enablement and adoption to migrate high performant and critical applications into a microservices model utilizing container technologies by working closely with our development and engineering teams. This individual works as part of a results-oriented, service-delivery team and assists developers, configuration analysts, release engineers, developers, and operations teams. Additionally, the Engineer performs root cause analysis of problems, selects and implements automation tools, and actively participates in deeply technical discourse.ResponsibilitiesBuild, support, and maintain Kubernetes and OpenShift platform infrastructureProvide technical analysis, resolve problems, propose, and implement solutionsProvide support to, and coordinate with developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-usersEducate and mentor platform consumers, team members and operations staffParticipate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours supportRespond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environmentTroubleshooting platform issues and underlying configurationCreate, maintain, and support Infrastructure-as-Code for Kubernetes PlatformKnowledge And ExperienceDegree in computer science/engineering discipline or equivalent experience in platform engineering.Understanding of major Kubernetes components and familiarity with Kubernetes conceptsHorizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availabilityUnderstanding of platform and application observability (tracing, logging metrics)Comprehension of top-tier analytics and problem solvingAbility to work in a service-oriented team environmentProject Management, organization, and time managementCustomer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experienceCommunicate effectively with both technical and business resourcesDesired Knowledge And ExperienceExperience with self-managed Kubernetes and/or OpenShiftExperience with OpenShift deployments on-prem and in commercial cloudsExperience with Kubernetes policy engines, e.g. KyvernoExperience with Docker and/or PodmanBuild automation and configuration managementAdvanced scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell, YAML)Experience with configuration management tools e.g. Ansible, Puppet, etc.Familiarity with AI toolsets and agentic troubleshootingIntercontinental Exchange, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
