Electrical Design Engineer The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for the design and development of industrial control systems, including creation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and supporting documentation. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting efforts, ensuring systems are delivered on time and operate reliably.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electrical control systems, including PLC-based controls, networking, HMIs, and associated componentsCreate and maintain detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)Ensure projects are completed on schedule and aligned with overall project timelinesCollaborate with engineering, project management, and field teams throughout the project lifecycleSupport manufacturing or panel assembly teams by providing clear documentation and design guidanceWork with vendors to specify components, source alternatives, and manage obsolescenceCoordinate with purchasing to ensure accurate and timely procurement of materialsAssist with system installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting, both remotely and on-site as neededMaintain accurate project documentation and update project tracking systems regularlyPromote continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and best practicesEnsure adherence to applicable industry standards and safety requirementsCommunicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholdersPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsExperience designing industrial control systems and electrical schematicsFamiliarity with PLCs, HMIs, drives (VFDs), and general control system componentsExperience with electrical design software (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar)Understanding of common industrial communication protocols and networkingAbility to read, create, and modify technical documentation and drawingsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyField experience or hands-on troubleshooting experience is preferredPLC programming experience is a plusFamiliarity with industry standards (e.g., UL, NEC) is a plus
